Avant le TGV c'étaient-elles, les ambassadrices de la SNCF, les plus prestigieuses des locomotives électriques qui assuraient la traction des plus grands express hexagonaux. Leurs histoires a débuté dans les années 1970 dans le Sud-Est et s’est poursuivi dans le Sud-Ouest où elles goutèrent à la grande vitesse (200 km/h) ; avant de tirer leur révérence une trentaine d’année plus tard.
